HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS A/S · PROJECT MANAGER · NPI

Turn technical complexity into a controlled path to Operations.

My strongest evidence sits in the operating layer behind NPI: technical changes, product structures, materials, suppliers, ERP/MRP, quality evidence and first production. JR100530 brings those interfaces together under one project: specialists, resources, risks, decisions and gates aligned until the product and process are ready to transfer.

BACKTESTED AGAINST JR100530

The role needs structure, transparency and momentum while the product is still changing.

Hamamatsu places this Project Manager between multidisciplinary engineering work and Operations transfer. The PM does not replace optical, electrical, mechanical or software judgement. The PM makes the plan, conflicts, decisions and evidence visible enough for the specialists and management to move.

01Drive the decision flow

Keep specialists, reviews and key decisions moving without taking over technical authority.

Proof below: cross-functional technical-change coordination
02Protect the plan

Keep priorities, dependencies and critical constraints visible as maturity evolves.

Proof below: two-week execution + reduced-team coverage prioritisation
03Control risk + change

Expose impact early, assign owners and escalate with options.

Proof below: supplier recovery + change-impact discipline
04Prepare the transfer

Follow gates until manufacturability and yield support Operations handover.

Proof below: first-production readiness + release evidence
REAL EXPERIENCE · CASE 01

Approved change → executable first production.

The strongest direct bridge to NPI is not the number of BOMs. It is the discipline required when one approved technical change touches data, material, suppliers, quality evidence and Production at the same time. At A.K.S. Finmekanik, this work sat inside high-mix precision manufacturing supporting defence, aerospace, space, research and advanced industrial customer work, including prototypes, first articles and customer-specific production.

TWO-WEEK EXECUTION WINDOW200+ complex parts / structures
01
Source

Start from approved drawings, revisions, BOM information and quality requirements.

02
Impact

Check item structure, routing, material, supplier, stock/open orders, inspection, traceability and documentation.

03
Align

Keep Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Production, Warehouse and suppliers clear on actions and timing.

04
Validate

Recheck ERP/MRP, material coverage, documentation and first-article requirements before release.

05
Handover

Make unresolved risks visible, confirm the next owner and move the approved setup into first production.

REAL EXPERIENCE · CASE 02

A constraint is a project risk before it becomes a delay.

A capable supplier became capacity-constrained as demand increased. The useful response was not more chasing. It was to establish the real constraint, protect urgent demand, create options and get a decision.

01Expose

Separate promise from demonstrated capacity.

→
02Prioritise

Protect the requirements that genuinely cannot move.

→
03Build options

Alternative sources, allocation, staged delivery, re-sequencing.

→
04Commit

Use evidence, authority limits and clear escalation.

→
05Recover

Keep owner, date and next decision visible until stable.

REAL EXPERIENCE · CASE 03

Recurring technical-reference errors should be designed out, not chased forever.

An external surface-treatment supplier was repeatedly working from unclear or mismatched drawing, revision and treatment references. I worked across the supplier and internal Quality / Engineering interface to make the reference exchange and checks clearer earlier in the process.

WHY IT MATTERS FOR NPI

Process maturity is not only fixing the latest defect. It is making the information flow repeatable enough that the same avoidable error is less likely to reach the next build.

RECURRING MISMATCHCatch it before processing.

ILLUSTRATIVE · BUILT FROM PUBLIC JR100530 RESPONSIBILITIES

The gate-readiness board I would want in front of the team.

This is not a copy of Hamamatsu’s internal process. It is a practical control surface for the information the public role says the PM must align: technical maturity, resources, risk/change, reporting, gates, scope, time, budget and transfer.

HOW I WOULD LEAD THE ROOM

Meetings should end with a decision, an owner or a clearly defined missing fact.

JR100530 explicitly requires facilitation of technical specialists, project meetings, design reviews and key decisions. The PM adds value by reducing ambiguity around what the team must decide next.

WHY THIS ROLE

The fit is the interface. The step is integrated project ownership.

My strongest recent experience sits where technical changes have to become executable: product structures, revisions, materials, suppliers, ERP / MRP, quality evidence, prototypes, first articles and first production.

JR100530 brings those interfaces together under formal project accountability: plan, specialist alignment, risk/change, gate evidence and transfer.

That is the accountability I am applying for.
